Observation 3.2
On Monday of this week, a stargazing session was held in the parking lot on Casey Key. The night seemed optimal as Emma and I left the house-- we could clearly see a bunch of constellations, like Orion and all of its main stars, Taurus, Perseus, Subaru, Gemini (with Jupiter shining brightly in its proximity), which we pointed out to our slightly less interested mother. We even spotted three or four satellites in a really short period of about a minute or two, in the region near where Jupiter was located. However, as we were driving to Casey Key, fog set in, from a few wisps to a thick density where we could barely see ten feet in front of us, much less the sky. By the time we arrived, the only thing visible in the sky was a fuzzy outline of the crescent moon. Disappointing, absolutely, but the small group in attendance passed the time by discussing astronomy related topics and being impressed by Mr. Percival's laser. The fog has pretty much persisted throughout the week, to my disappointment. Hopefully we'll get some clearer skies headed our way soon.
