APOD 1.6

This APOD, titled "Equinox Earth", shows exactly that-- the earth at the Fall Equinox. This image was captured by the Russian satellite Elektro-L. What's special about this is that it is one of the only two days of the year where it can capture an image like this one-- showing the full face of the Earth, as the axis is not tilted toward or away from the sun, so the solar light extends to both poles. You can see the glint on sunlight shining directly on the Equator, if you look closely. I chose this picture because the autumnal equinox was just a little over a week ago for us in the nothern hemisphere, so it's interesting seeing it from a very outside perspective.
