APOD 3.3
This picture is aptly titled "Rocket Streak and Star Trails", and was taken on the night of January 23rd. The imaged trails of the stars in the sky were made possible by a series of short exposures over a three hour long period. The amazing glowing rocket streak in the center of the photo is actually an Atlas V rocket carrying NASA's satellites TDRS-L. The apparent motion of the stars, along with the curved factor of the streak, is due to the Earth's rotation. This photo immediately caught my eye with the incredible glowing streak and the beautiful star trails, I immediately wanted to learn more about this sight.
