APOD 2.3

This picture captures the incredible total solar eclipse that was visible in parts of Africa last Sunday on November 3rd. This particular image was captured in Uganda. You can see the red-colored solar chromosphere circling the lunar shadow, fading into the glow of the Sun's corona, or outer atmosphere. I had to pick this picture because over the weekend, I saw the partial solar eclipse that was visible at sunrise in Florida, knowing that way over in Africa, people were viewing the sight in the image above. It was so, so cool. I'm so glad I not only get to see the perspective of this picture but also saw it in real life, even though it was only partial here in Florida.
